Super Bowl Visits a Regulated Market for the First Time

As per GeoComply’s geolocation data, the first two weeks of the NFL regular season show a promising future for the State Farm Stadium as there have been 66,000 geolocation checks from 7,300 unique accounts.

Chief Executive Officer of GeoComply, Anna Sainsbury commented that this means a lot not just for Arizona sports betting market but also for states who have legalized sports wagering.

“Seeing data from many of these games that shows more than 10 percent of NFL fans in stadiums are engaging with licensed sportsbooks is a clear win for states that choose to regulate sports betting.”

Based on the current data, the Canadian-based geolocation compliance technology provider believes that there will be a massive sports betting event in Arizona as it hosts the Super Bowl LVII – the first time that the event will take place in a state with regulated sports wagering.

Aside from mobile wagering, Arizonians can also bet through retail sites like the recently launched BetMGM sportsbook at the State Farm Stadium.

Pennsylvania Market Tops Geolocation Data

Other regulated sports betting markets like  Colorado, New Jersey, and New York also had home games in the first two weeks of the NFL Regular season. However, Pennsylvania bettors came up on top in terms of geolocation as the Philadelphia Eagles Lincoln Financial Field emerged as the “busiest stadium” during the said period with  76,400 geolocation checks from 8,000 different users

Michigan’s Ford Field in Detroit came out as third with 47,000 geolocation checks from 6,100 unique users.

How Data are Gathered?

The geolocation supplier noted that the data are gathered through capturing checks located from the stadia to the surrounding parking lots for a total of seven hours. The tracking will start three hours before the start of the same and will stop four hours after the event.
